More information
Rep. Ruth Ann Palumbo was elected to the Kentucky House of Representatives 76th District in November 1990. She was sworn in on January 6, 1991 and is completing her 17th term. She is the 38th woman to serve in the House and is now the longest serving woman in the KY General Assembly.
Rep. Palumbo was chair of the House Economic Development Committee for twenty years. She has served on many committees in the past but now sits on Appropriations & Revenue, Health Services, Licensing & Occupations, , and Transportation.
Throughout her tenure, Rep. Palumbo has been a champion for issues that help women, children, families, and the elderly. She worked with the “Ladies of the House” to guide the Women’s Health Act of 1998, which required insurance to cover breast reconstruction following a mastectomy. She was appointed to Attorney General Gorman’s Child Sex Abuse panel and has sponsored legislation requiring better care and protection of child victims. This resulted in the creation of many Children’s Advocacy Centers. She has worked on the Adult Abuse Registry, education about Alzheimer’s disease, prevention of domestic violence, diabetes education, consumer protection, animal abuse, and penalties for hate crimes. She is a strong supporter of fairness and LGBTQ equality.
Annie Sketch is an APRN within the Advanced Heart Failure and Cardiac Transplant teams at UK Healthcare. Annie is from Lexington, Kentucky and attended the University of Kentucky, graduating with a Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing. She went on to graduate with a Master’s of Science in Nursing from Austin Peay State University in 2014. Annie cares for a wide variety of complex cardiology patients, including those with pulmonary hypertension, cardiac amyloidosis, advanced heart failure, and cardiac transplant. She is very excited to be partnering with Project Adam to spread awareness and knowledge of AEDs and CPR in Kentucky schools.
